Imagine you are Van Halen and such is your guitar prowess that when you go to pee you hear the sound of cascading guitar solos – well now you can! You may remember what fun we had with Toylets - the urinal based video game from Sega, last year. Well, I recently found out about another urinal-based piece of fun dreamt up by AlmapBBDO for their client Billboard, whilst looking at the very reasonable Cool de Estambul blog.
The Guitar Pee is a mix between men’s urinal and an electric guitar. As you empty your bladder you can trigger guitar notes and noises to play from this specially modified urinal. After you are done, each guitarist can listen and download his recent-released “mpee3” by accessing the Guitar Pee Gallery via mobile.
So far The Guitar Pee has toured several bars in São Paulo, registering over 1,500 unique guitar solos (and counting). I think we should start lobbying to get these things installed in the UK. On the strength of Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, and Dave Gilmour - what could go wrong…? the only problem I have is that we need to think of some way for the girls to make music whilst in the ladies room – answers below, please…

To mark their 125th anniversary last year, Coca-Cola launched a wide-range of campaigns to celebrate the brand. The iconic drinks label are not afraid to splash their marketing budget on extravagent projects and whilst not all of last year’s campaigns were as impressive as each other, there were certainly a few interesting pieces, particularly their digital installations.
The above video is a well-presented case study from a Istanbul-based agency Antilop showing the brand experience their created in Santralistanbul, a museum and gallery space. Antilop are a relatively new company, established in 2010, but a piece like this for such a huge client is a great portfolio piece for them.
Designed specifically for the Galeri1 space in Santralistanbul, they created an 90sqm immersive environment with a 270-degree projection system. The space is also filled with a quadrophonic soundscape produced by Antilop’s own sound design team. Continue reading “Coca-Cola Digital Installations” »
